Wireless Devices Lock Out
DESCRIPTION
All wireless devices are locked out for extended
periods of time on a SmartLine system. Transmit LED on Extended
Receiver board(s) stay on.
NOTE: The SmartLine Master Interface
receiver does not lock out devices and polling between the SmartLine
Master Interface and the monitoring software continues as normal.
Calls received by the SmartLine Master Interface will operate normally
CAUSE
A high level of noise induced on the extended receiver
bus occasionally prevents calls from wireless devices from being
acknowledged by the SmartLine Master Interface. As a result the
Extended Receiver boards lock out devices while the system is waiting
for a response.
RESOLUTION
An upgrade to the SmartLine Extended Receiver boards
preventing the lock out from occurring is available to resolve
this issue. Contact SmartLink regarding replacements of the SmartLine
Extended Receiver boards.
To temporarily un-lock the system, activate a programmed
wireless device within range of the SmartLine Master Interface
receiver. This will cause the entire bus to reset (including any
locked out Extended Receiver boards).
NOTE: Replacing the Extended Receiver
boards or resetting the system will not cause any programming options
to be lost.

Master Interface Does Not Recognise Universal
Pendants
DESCRIPTION
Universal Wireless Pendants can not be programmed
into the SmartLine System and/or don't generate alarms on SmartLine
when activated, even though other wireless devices are recognised
correctly.
CAUSE
SmartLink's range of Universal Wireless Pendants
use 56-bit coding where as the previous range of devices use 40-bit
coding. The Master Interface receiver component of the board developed
in September 2002 is only compatible with 40-bit SmartLink devices.
NOTE: Consult the Master Interface
PCB (Printed Circuit Board) for confirmation on the development
date.
RESOLUTION
The latest SmartLine Extended Receiver boards can
be interfaced with the SmartLine Master and are compatible with
both the 56-bit and 40-bit wireless device range. Program the Universal
Pendants via the Extended Receiver(s). Locate an Extended Receiver
in close vicinity to the Master Interface to ensure all devices
are recognised as the master receiver cannot process any new 56
bit coded devices. TOP
Master
Will Not Communicate to Computer
DESCRIPTION
Communication
cannot be established between the computer (running Monitoring
software) and the SmartLine Master unit.
CAUSE
A variety of problem might
exist that can result in a loss of communications between the
SmartLine master unit and the
computer.
The most common are the use of incorrect communication cables
and the lack of a proper power supply.
RESOLUTION
Ensure correct power
is present and a Null Modem cable is used and has not inadvertently
been changed for a normal computer
cable. TOP
Receivers Not Working Properly
DESCRIPTION
Receivers are not functioning
properly.
CAUSE
Correct power not supplied
to receivers. System behaviour is not predictable.
RESOLUTION
Ensure that full power
is available at the receivers and that the 0V of power to the
master is bridged to 0V of the receivers,
bypassing bridge rectifier.

Master Sometimes Not Receiving Reed Switches Closing
Messages
DESCRIPTION
The master unit sometimes
does not receive the reed closing messages.
CAUSE
Door opening and closing
too quickly to handle 700ms lockout on same signal rejection
software inside master.
RESOLUTION
Reprogram reed switch for at least
1 sec delay between open/close signals being sent. TOP
